Taste My Reality is a Role Playing Game (RPG) performance with food and live sound. The audience were invited to attend under the guise of a dinner party, unaware they were about to participate in the performance.

Staged as a film set, the performance subverted reality, shifting between being on set, filming a scene where the audience subsumed the role of extras and being off set where they were treated like extras at a dinner party.

Y
Performers played archetypal characters: Blogger, Politician, Celebrity, Director and Anonymous. The participants played extras. Each Archetype treated the extras according to their stereotypes. The gameplay was determined through the ritual of food and the Director’s orders, who created spontaneous and challenging social situations that the extras had to navigate and overcome.

The piece draws attention to force fed societal belief systems and roles that influence human behaviour in often conflicting and unequal ways. It plays on the notion that we consume ideas before we are conscious of them.
