Silicone Animism: Trimester 1 is a durational Role Playing Game performance where performers of different age, gender and sex intuitively responded to wearing silicone pregnancy bumps and live generative sound.
For this performance there was no gameplay, instead they were provided with an intimate and raw environment with plastic and silicone tools.
This simulation intuitively made the performers respond in a primal and cathartic way. Many of the performers had visceral, emotional reactions to the silicone pregnancy bump which transcended sex, gender and age.
Reaffirming both the power of simulation and the symbology and architecture of pregnancy, the piece questions the nature of objective and subjective reality. It proposes that biological and physical truth is not necessarily of highest value to how humans feel or experience truth and meaning and highlights the importance of imagined, spiritual and ancestral reality.
