Morphogenic Angels Chapter 1 is an interactive installation featuring a live gaming experience set at HAU Berlin, alongside an immersive installation with CGI film, virtual reality (VR), and game stations.

Five members of the audience are invited to play the game whilst the rest of the audience watch the gameplay. Although it is a single-player game it is not just a singular experience as it can also be experienced like a film by a wider audience during gameplay. Everything in the game is in simulation mode meaning that it is always live. After the live gameplay in the theater, the audience are invited into an immersive installation where they can watch the genesis story behind Keiken’s speculative world, as well as delve into their world through VR and play the game in a more intimate setting.

Players use an Xbox controller to navigate and interact in the game. As they journey through the game they are encouraged to use a subverted combat system that teaches them how their energy impacts others.

Morphogenic Angels, Keiken’s current ongoing worldbuilding project, is an ever-evolving universe set 1000 years from now, unfolding in a radically different time and space that transcends our current political, societal, financial and subjective reality. It explores a future where people have gained post-human capabilities through the organic reengineering of their cells, therefore tapping into non-human consciousness. In this future world, post-human entities are now considered “Angels,” and they value and draw from all kinds of consciousness; ancestral, bodily, extraterrestrial, as well as animal, nature, cellular, and the cosmos.
